TOXIN BOTULINUM FOR THERAPEUTIC MANAGEMENT OF BRUXISM

Abstract

Botulinum toxin is a substance that is based on a bacterium called Clostridium Botulinum and can be used for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes to inhibit muscle contraction. This literature review deals with the management of bruxism symptoms, which will depend on the severity and type of the individual, thus being evaluated individually, and treated in different ways. The objective of this study was to review the literature in search of information regarding the efficacy of the use of toxin for the therapeutic management of bruxism, with the purpose of reducing the symptoms caused by this parafunction. According to the articles reviewed, despite the scarcity of studies, this substance can bring relief to the problem, relieving tension and its symptoms.
